Pathetic 'get out clauses' in the Bible..got any?

i remember years ago being on failed circus and the 'householder'(tm) was an atheist/agnostic.. he was shown the scripture: 'all scripture is inspired of god..' 2 tim 3:16. his reply: 'well, it would say that about itself wouldn't it!?!'.

good point.

i actually saw his point at the time too and it made me think.....though not quite enough.. i now see that scripture as a pathetic get out clause.. i also think about the justification to believe in god...otherwise you're an idiot scripture psalms 14:1. .

With the 2 Tim 3:16 scripture as well, my take on it is, we don't know exactly which scriptures are being referred to. The pentateuch? Harry Potter?

That being said the 'Bible' as such (66 books give or take an apocrypha or two), didn't exist it was a later contrafibularity!

good point point. Also, the "Love thy neighbor" crap. Okay there's like 4 pages in the whole bible that talk about loving your stupid neighbor. But a whopping chunk of the Old Testement is marching orders to go into your neighbor's city, kill him, kill his wife and kids, kill his f*cking animals, burn his gold (or take it, depending on the status of Jah's checking account at that moment) and keep his underage daughters as your sex slave.

I like the Christmas lights, but not the Commercial part of Christmas

it's that time of year, again.

neighbours competing with each other for the best display of christmas decorations.

some are tackyy t, and some are very tastefull.

To be honest, I like the spirit of Christmas. And not any kind of religious nonsense spirit, but the atomsphere of the festivities. Hell, it's been a horrid year for many and we got through it. Relax, enjoy a drink, get laid, buy something out of the Sharper Image catalog that you really don't need.

Growing up, however, was a different story. I was taught to hate Christmas. To this day, Mother Falcon still looks out her blinds to the neighbors across the street. She'll glare at their display and hiss "Look at them, putting up their Christmas lights." (She says Christmas in the same tone that one would say Nazi or rapist).

Chestnuts roasting on an open flame? Sickening.

But myself, I always liked the music and the lights.

As far as the commercialism, I don't get too much into that Black Friday stuff. Right now, my wife and I have to celebrate Xmas like we're friggin' Anne Frank because of our JW families. So we just focus on the "being together as a family" stuff.

Who is supposed to do the "Separating Work" for the new magazines?

so, there is a bit of a fight going on in our hall between our pioneer sisters and our magazine servant.

since the new magazines are boxed with two issues together, there is a bit of work to be done separating them.

our magazine servant stacked them on the counter as usual, right out of the box.

hahaha I hate when JWs are referred to as "The Friends". What are they, Quakers?

Anywho, I can dig it. I was a magazine servant and I can say honestly that I have never dealt with stupider, lazy and simple-minded morons than "The Friends."

Oh and they treat you like SH*T, despite the supposed framework of Christian love that is supposed to be there. Not to mention that you are VOLUNTEERING to do this work.

Towards the end, I used to just take whole boxes home with me and throw them the hell out. Fack it.

Questions and matters I wish I could get my Jehovah's Witness Family to think about

so in the beginning there was a man named charles taze russell who was influenced by other religions, but yet concerned the teaching of main stream christian religion... he used egyptian pyramids (now looked at as pagan) as a method of calculation of dates that he felt had an effect of christian and human culture.. in avoiding pagan ideas now, there was so much to begin with, where was the change and whose idea was this?

(compare now to holidays in how their traditions affect them> does it better a person or worsen them, distract them, or offend god> is god more offended that you changed a different view of looking at him, then, it is to judge another believers way with their traditions, in bringing something evil to something loving and fun?

have you looked at how they view their traditions?

in response to one comment that"one can't function without faith," another disagreed, stating ones can, that "many do so every day... the ones who have trust" (in things like the sun rising in the east versus the west).

that trust extended to "faith" based "on nature and the natural order of things.

not in a billion years, designs. Not in a billion years. Neither will Muslims, and neither will Jews. That's why those 3 groups will continue to duke it out for eternity until they either wipe each other out or our sun finally collapses. All too busy "interpretting" their books and slaughtering one another so they can all reach their respective after-worlds.

question: if the WT is wrong about physical people living on earth during the thousand years, then who are "those nations in the four corners of the earth, god and magog" & "the number of these is as the sand of the sea. And they advanced..."?

well, for 100 years these religious nutjobs (FD&S) supposidly didn't even know what their real role was until recently. So all thier goofy interpretations are suspect.
